THE HUMAN BEHIND THE LENS
Photography helps me make sense of our world. I make images of the things that make me feel alive - wild places, the human experience, natural moments that take your breath away. I live to tell stories where mountain sports, mother nature and extraordinary human experiences collide -- often set in some of the most remote, unforgiving, challenging environments on Earth.
As an alpinist, skier and avid outdoors person, I have childlike curiosity for the world around me and an inability to sit still. Photography, among many things, is my gateway to mountain tops, the open ocean, remote glaciers and colorful deserts. It's a pathway to explore and share the most beautiful creation of all - our planet. I began my creative journey doing what some would call "normal" commercial and advertising work. Finding a desk job too limiting, I became an international travel guide -- opening the door to photograph some of the most stunning landscapes in the world.
Since then, a spark of passion for photography and storytelling has become my life's work. I have had the privilege of filming and photographing on 6 continents (still missing Australia), inside glaciers and on the slopes of some of the world's most remote mountains. As an award winning filmmaker and photographer I enjoy looking at our planet with an artistic eye, looking for those moments that would normally pass us by without a second thought. I photograph the activities I enjoy and the places I am lucky enough to explore in hopes that they will inspire you to find your own adventure - be it near or far. My hope is that these photographs and the stories they tell, will bring the remote, wild and unbridled awe of our planet closer to you.
Currently, I reside in Salt Lake City as an expedition, travel and documentary photographer/filmmaker and am especially excited about telling stories that open the door for marginalized and underrepresented populations to participate in the outdoor space. Stories about our planet that educate and inspire us to keep our wild spaces...wild. Most importantly, I hope to use my time, treasure and talent to help leave our planet, and the people in it - better than I found it.
